About Us
We are living during challenging times, in an increasingly complex interdependent world immersed in a self-centered narrative that promotes and perpetuates competition, exploitation, and separatism. Our systems are fractured, they undervalue wellbeing, and struggle to serve the purposes for which they were created. Nothing less than a values-based cultural evolution is required to shift our way of doing and being from me-focused to We-focused, so we can address the profound changes needed to better serve humanity.
The Mindfulness Alliance serves as a catalyst and community-builder in service to the mindful evolution of social systems. We believe that the future of the mindfulness movement lies in harnessing the combined power of awareness and the power of community-building to advance collective wellbeing. We are building a unique community of mindfulness practitioners that spans disciplines and sectors, and embraces multiple wisdom traditions. Through contemplative community-building and community-based action we can catalyze our collective capacity to foster awareness-based social change. Only through collaboration can we hope to be effective.

How do we foster the inner journey from me to We?
Since 2018, we have experimented with how to live this shift, using the we-space of our nonprofit as our petri dish.
We hold the following questions at the heart of our journey, with the aspiration to live the questions in order to someday live the answers:
How do We
1. Determine the types of transformative introspection needed to transcend our cultural trance in order to foster the movement from me-to-We?
2. Leverage our inner knowledge to move beyond outmoded ways of operating toward more holistic, interconnected functioning, in order to form more just structures, and center collective wellbeing?
3. Develop the transformation literacy needed to meet our urgent intra- and interdependent societal challenges?
Our recent publication, Transformation Literacy to Transformative Unity: A Noble Experiment From me to We, shares insights gleaned from living into the answers, including how we have come to define the me-to-We journey as a journey of ever-evolving awareness, of growing our capacity for connectedness, and as the path of cultural evolution. We further explain this inner journey as a movement toward transformative unity, and introduce our awareness-based change model, The Cycle of Transformative Unity.

Founding Members
The Mindfulness Alliance is working to walk the talk. As a contemplative organization we are on a journey of discovery, exploring what it means to hold awareness and wellbeing at the center of organizational development processes. Aligned with the principles of networked and collective leadership, we are participating in a new form of governance that is collaborative, inclusive, and authentic, that distributes authority and accountability broadly, in addition to being aligned with the values and principles of mindfulness practice. We value the innate gifts and contributions of everyone involved.
